This week we picked some berries off one of the Holly bushes in our yard and decided to paint with them.
Note: Be sure you supervise you children, many types of berries can be poisonous to humans
(After a LONG discussion of how these berries are not for eating, that they would make us sick)
I sat down with my two littlest and let them smush to their hearts content.
The big kiddos even joined in
Because let’s face it…
smushing things is fun.
I love that that I could see my children’s personalities in their work too:
Monkey is quite particular, he slowly and systematically smushed individual berries on his page, being sure to toss aside the remaining pulp.
Freckles on the other hand would pile up his berries and aggressively high five them into the paper in what can only be described as a serious smack down. He was unconcerned about all the pulp and the color bled all over his paper.
I love how vibrant these turned out,
and we’re now looking around the yard for other things to paint with!
